Glam Slam: Bridal Makeup Trends

This week is Wedding Week on our morning show, Access Hollywood Live. And today, the brilliant Dior Beauty Celebrity Makeup Artist, Ricky Wilson, who has worked with Leighton Meester and Sharon Stone, was on hand to talk about bridal beauty trends.

“First make sure that your skin is in tip-top shape weeks before the big day,” Ricky suggests. “I recommend getting serious with your skincare routine months before your wedding day. I do not recommend facials, waxing or threading the week of because of the risks of irritation. If you get your brows done a week before, you can tweeze any new growth yourself and still keep the shape.”

“Another tip – most brides-to-be are so concerned with the amount of makeup they need to have on for a picture and forget that they still need to look beautiful and fresh in front of the groom as well as guests. When it comes to face makeup, the more you apply, the more it’s gonna need to be maintained. This is in regards to concealer, foundation, etc.”

“I cannot stress the importance of having a trial run prior to your wedding day so that you get the perfect look you are going for. It is also important to express to the artist what you want. So, red carpet pictures help to convey the message.”

Ricky showed how to create wedding makeup looks inspired by stars Blake Lively and Zoe Saldana. Here is your step by step guide.

ZOE SALDANA

This is the perfect look for those who love everything glamorous and chic. This look is classy and fun, yet sexy and timeless. Perfect for afternoon/evening black tie weddings. The three main components of this look are sexy, sculpted eyes, big liner/lashes and wearing a brighter shade to finsh the look.

I used DiorSkin Nude foundation in #51 and I set it with DiorSkin Pressed Powder #2 and DiorSkin Nude Skin-Perfecting Hydrating Concealer #4.

For the eye I used 5-Colour Eyeshadow in Night Dust. I left the brow bone bare, swept the brown shade through the crease and then mixing the brown and black shades together so that it’s not too strong and pressing that across the eyelid.

Then, I used Dior Waterproof Crayon Eyeliner in Trinidad Black as well as Diorliner in Black for added drama and staying-power.

Then, I sculpted the brows using DiorShow Brow Styler.

For mascara, I layered DiorShow Extase and DiorShow Black Out. For the cheeks, I used Dior Bronze #4.

For the lips, I filled them in with Lipliner in Sweet Plum and then covered it with Rouge Dior Lipstick #752 and then I topped it off with Dior Addict Ultra Gloss in Red Stockings.

BLAKE LIVELY

This is a clean, classic, natural, timeless beauty with a modern twist. This look is perfect for destination weddings and the ultimate goal is to look like you woke up looking this gorgeous. Three main components of the look are glowing skin, beachy bronzer and a soft pink lip.

I used Capture Totale Radiance Enhancer to give the skin a dewy glow with DiorSkin AirFlash Spray Foundation in #200. I used SkinFlash Primer underneath the eyes and also as an eyeshadow base and around the lip to define the contour before applying lipstick and it also helps to keep the lipstick from bleeding.

To give the bronzed, sunkissed look, I used Dior Bronze Makeup Matte Sunshine in #2 along the hollows of the cheek and on the temple and a little bit on the chin. Then I used DiorBlush #829 on the apple of the cheek so that the look is bronzed but still very fresh. Anywhere you want to add shine or glow you can use DiorSkin Shimmer Star in Amber Diamond.

For the eyes, I used Dior 5-Colour Eyeshadow in Incognito. Sweep the vanilla shade underneath the brow for highlight.

Use the beige on the lid to open up the eyes and the light brown color gets swept through the crease to define the natural contour of the eye. I finished them off with Dior Waterproof Crayon Eyeliner in Trinidad Black and DiorShow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum and DiorShow Iconic Mascara. For the lips I used Rouge Dior in #359 and finished it off with Dior Addict Ultra Gloss in Sari Pink.
