There is always an “It” bag in Hollywood. And right now the bag du jour is Lanvin’s “Happy” bag. Jessica Alba has one. So do Sarah Jessica Parker and Reese Witherspoon. Katie Holmes likes hers so much she’s been photographed with it at least six times.
The bag is made of quilted leather with a ribbon wrapped chain link handle. It is very chic and lux and is an instant classic. The leather is soft, but sturdy and the bag is roomy enough to be practical.
The “Happy” bag is the latest “It” bag in a long line of “It” bags beloved by Hollywood stars. There’s the Hermes Birkin, of course. Chanel’s 2.55 quilted bags, the Balenciaga bag and Chloe’s Marcie Leather Satchel. Remember how “Sex and The City” sent the Fendi Baguette flying off shelves?
Katie and the rest of the “Happy” gang have their bags in mauve, but it also comes in black and navy. I saw a leopard print version at Barneys that was pretty sweet too. So is the price tag.
The leopard bag is $2,500… the leather retails for $2,215. But that doesn’t mean the stars paid that! In my next life, I hope I have my own personal designer handbag fairy godmother!
