Glam Slam: Countdown To Oscar-Ready Body

It’s day three of Glam Slam’s Oscar Week and getting Red Carpet ready isn’t just about the hair and the makeup. It’s also about that glow you get from within. Celebrity Nutritionist Dr. Oz Garcia (who has worked with Hilary Swank, Heidi Klum and Winona Ryder) shares his five day plan with results he says will help you lose weight, reduce bloating, have higher energy, reduce fatigue and get glowing skin and shiny hair.

Getting healthy is something we could all benefit from… whether you are heading to the Academy Awards… or just want to feel better in your every day life. Here goes…

Day One: Wake-up feeling rested following a full 8-hour sleep. Grab a small apple or a large glass of juice and get your heart pumping in the sunlight between 30 to 40 minutes. Don’t forget to bring water. Throughout the day you’re going to need to consume 8 to 10 glasses. Wait an hour after your workout is complete and eat a Greek yogurt with fresh berries. For lunch, eat a chopped salad with white meat turkey. Mid-day grab a handful of almonds and a few slices of cheese along with a cup of green tea, which cuts your appetite and works as a natural diuretic. For dinner, order broiled salmon and broccoli sautéed in olive oil. Later in the evening, relax with a small glass of wine and some dark chocolate. Don’t forget to get to bed early so you can capture a full 7 to 8 hours of sleep.

Day Two: Good Morning. Start the day with a small berry and Whey protein shake. Berries are a great antioxidant, which makes your skin look great and are also packed with good sugars that power your body and brain. Whey protein, builds muscle, boosts immune function and is an appetite suppressant. Grab your water and weights and head outside for some strength and circuit training. Keep the exercises light and relaxed with lightweights and high reps. About an hour after your workout eat two hard boiled eggs and some pomegranate juice. For lunch, order a Greek salad with broiled salmon. Later in the day, break out some hummus and carrots and with a tall green tea. Grab some sushi rolls for dinner along with a bowl of rice and some sautéed vegetables. If you feel like snacking, grab a bowl of cold green grapes. Don’t forget to keep drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water are needed every day to keep your system hydrated and flush toxins out from your body.

Day Three: The big day is getting close and you’re going to want to center yourself. Start with a glass of water and a wedge of melon. Then take it outside for some power Yoga. Getting sunlight is a must. It enriches your body with Vitamin D, which releases dopamine in your system. So it’s feel good and energizing. When you’re done, eat a Greek yogurt with berries. Greek yogurt specifically, is great for digestion and your immune system and is packed with calcium, protein, and Vitamin B2. At lunch, have a bean salad with feta cheese and some white meat chicken. As a snack, mix up a protein shake. For dinner, seared tuna and Quinoa will keep you satisfied and glowing. All the fish we’re eating daily will help keep your skin glowing, hair shiny and nails strong because of the high omega-3 content. Close out the day with a cup of herbal ginger tea, which is great for the butterflies in your stomach and a small helping of dark chocolate with nuts.

Day Four: Wake-up in the morning feeling like the star you are and blend a protein shake with berries. Take your workout outside again for a cardio workout. Once you relax, grab a couple of strips of turkey bacon and an egg. Keep drinking your water! Have some sushi rolls for lunch with a small Japanese salad with ginger dressing. As a snack, eat a few turkey slices with rice crackers. Dinner, a small bowl of rice noodles, sautéed with veggies and white meat chicken. Don’t forget about your green tea. As an evening snack eat some frozen Greek yogurt with honey. Get to sleep early! If you are nervous and can’t sleep go for a glass of red wine. Wine is packed with Resveratrol, which is anti-inflammatory, lowers blood sugars and has beneficial cardiovascular effects. Sweet dreams.

Day Five: The big day is finally here. Start off with an apple and take your pent up energy and nerves outside for a walk, run or stretch depending on what makes you feel best. Grab your Greek yogurt and add some blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries—you know, like that. Snack on almonds, which have the unique ability to help you feel fuller longer. The day is going to be busy but don’t forget to eat lunch. Have a bowl of rice with fresh tuna, olive oil, olives, lemon and salt and paper. Drink a Whey protein shake. Remember to keep drinking plenty of water and a glass or two of green tea. For dinner keep it light and easy. Some sushi rolls, a salad with fish and feta cheese or a turkey breast with some salad should keep your energy up throughout the evening. Congratulations on looking wonderful and winning your Oscar!
