Glam Slam: Emmy Fashion — Monday Morning Quarterback

Bright, bold colors ruled yesterday’s Emmys with citrus hues in particular dominating the red carpet.

Julianne Moore went with a chartreuse long-sleeved Dior, pairing the simple yellow-green gown with minimal bling and straight hair, while pregnant Best Actress Drama winner Claire Danes wore Lanvin. Her canary yellow strapless draped silk gown is from the Ete 2013 Pre-Collection. Lucky girl – wouldn’t we all like to have Lanvin as maternity wear!

“It’s bump accommodating,” Claire said. “It fit and I loved the color and it didn’t look too maternity, which was nice.”

Julie Bowen chose a silk strapless draped trumpet gown from the Monique Lhuillier Resort 2013 collection in a lime green color so bright it was bordering on neon.

“It’s still like a classic shape, so it’s not too ‘80s,” she told us. Very dramatic, I liked it a lot and the color definitely stood out.

“I always say, if you’ve got it, flaunt it.” Sofia Vergara laughed and she did!

I thought Julie’s “Modern Family” co-star looked like a mermaid-come-to-life in her slinky, second-skin teal Zuhair Murad gown paired with 175 carats of Neil Lane Diamonds.

“It’s fun, you know, these events,” she told us. “It’s great I think for women because we can go you know crazy and all out things you can do a lot of fashion and crazy hair it’s a lot of fun for me.”

She also had fun with the fact that her dress ripped right down her backside, even tweeting a photo of her wardrobe malfunction.

“I mean imagine that happens to real people. You sit down. Your dress is too tight…because you ate too much,” she said to us laughing.

A single and solo Heidi Klum also went with a lovely blue-green color…sea foam green to be exact. The floaty, goddess dress is by Alexander Vauthier and it’s the only one Heidi looked at.

“Just this,” she said. “I saw this in a fashion show and I liked it, so he made it in my size.”

The gown featured a super high slit and Heidi finished the look with gorgeous color coordinated earrings. “They’re Lorraine Schwartz, and I think those are probably the most beautiful earrings I have ever seen. I love them. It’s opal.”

“I love it so much,” Kerry Washington gushed about her blush sequin Vivienne Westwood Couture gown. “I like that it’s sort of simple and elegant, but still sparkly.”

I couldn’t agree more. Kerry brought plenty of wow to the red carpet. Total fashion knockout.
