Glam Slam: Fabulous Fiesta!

I went to the most awesome and fun party last weekend…a Birthday Fiesta celebration for my longtime friend Sara, and her husband Jesper, who are both pictured above on the left side of the photo. These two are incredible hosts, who throw the most fabulous parties at their 1920’s Spanish style home and this bash was further proof of that.

I wasn’t sure what to wear, but I dug deep in my closet for my trusty Spanish floral shawl, which was perfect for the occasion. As I arrived, I was met with the vibrant sounds of a mariachi band playing. A few neighbors, who were walking their dogs, stopped outside the gate to listen. Inside, Sara and Jesper had turned their backyard into a festive oasis.

The two hit LA’s famed Olvera Street for multi-color Mexican Papel Picado banners, paper flowers hung in the trees, paper mache figures and serapes, which were used as tablecloths. Great way to add loads of color!

Delicious made-to-order tilapia tacos, quesadillas and all the fixins were served. You could smell the food down the block and it was all so yummy. Naturally, there was a margarita bar and Mexican beers were served as well.

The cake was just plain fabulous – it looked like it had colorful, edible confetti on it and was adored with colorful paper mache figures. Sara used large empty enchilada sauce cans to display floral decorations, which I thought was a fun and affordable way to decorate. She also had beautiful Doloris Petunia friendship bracelets for all the guests, including sparkly crystal-adorned ones for the ladies. Best of all, though, was the sign that accompanied the bracelets.

It said: “Our Party Would Knot Be The Same Without You – Thank You For Celebrating With Us.”

No, thank YOU, Sara and Jesper – it would not be the same without you. Thanks for being such fabulous friends to so many. Happy Birthday to you both!
