Glam Slam: Fall Fashion Week – Makeup Trends

It may still be too hot to wear any new Fall purchases, but one way to quickly ease into Fall is by changing up your makeup! CHANEL Celebrity Makeup Artist Kate Lee, whose celeb clients include Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway and Sienna Miller, shares some of her best makeup tips and tricks for Fall.

“Fall is always an interesting time for makeup,” Kate says. “It’s almost as if, the second the days get shorter and the flowers start to fade we feel the need to add color and drama to our daily routine so that we can make ourselves believe that we can make the Summer last a little longer.”

As for the inspiration for the Fall makeup palette? “There seem to be a lot of floral prints in this seasons collections also brights and neutrals,” Kate says. “I think that there is something out there for all of us when it comes to an Autumn palette and makeup is no exception.”

“For holiday and Fall, I will be looking to add some highlights to my neutral palette. I love the new hot fuchsia CHANEL nail color Pulsion, launching in October, as it is very youthful and adds a pop, I like to pair this with a very casual mid tone smokey brown/taupe, which I would apply as a wash to both the upper and the lower lids. I would keep the lips neutral too, perhaps CHANEL Rouge Coco Patchouli, which is a coppery natural and have the nails be the only color; it looks so great with denim and makes a change from red.

CHANEL Ombre D’eau liquid eyeshadow in pewter is great, as its neither brown or grey and it’s perfect to pair with any lip shade and even though it looks like it might be too dark in the tube, I assure you that once you sweep it on, its shimmery texture and staying power will win you over.

Another alternative is to have your cheeks or lips be the only color and keep the rest of the makeup very simple. We are definitely leaning toward pink shades over at CHANEL, as they are so fresh and simple and there is a shade to suit everyone. One of my favorite tricks is to add CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Clair, which is a beigey, nude khol, to the center of the inner eye lid, just under the iris. This helps to pop the iris color, which in turn, brings the focus back to the lip. Everyone will comment on how healthy you look! Maybe even add a tiny amount of tan powder across the bridge of the nose and upper cheekbones to give the illusion of a few hours in the sun. Let’s hold on to the Summer as long as we can!”
