Glam Slam: Family Fun Hollywood Style

Talk about one massive party! My husband, daughter, and I (and about 1500! others) had fun checking out the huge family friendly scene at the 20th anniversary of the P.S. Arts Express Yourself event, which aims to help kids through art education.

Lisa Kudrow, Steve Carell, and Calista Flockhart were among those braving a torrential rainstorm to enjoy more than 40 thousand square feet of arts, crafts, food and performances at Santa Monica Airport’s Barker Hangar.

I saw Jack Black walking around with his son on his shoulders. Adam Sandler was hanging with his daughter at the gymnastics booth and Kimora Lee Simmons, who was there with Djimon Hounsou, could not have been taller!

My daughter had a blast. She painted a piggy bank (pictured), made a laminated placemat and got her hair braided at the California Baby booth. She frosted and decorated mini cupcakes at the Sprinkles booth and grabbed a mini whoopie cookie every chance she got at the Baking Whoopie booth.

E!’s ‘Fashion Police’ had a sweet setup. Hair and makeup artists gave glam makeovers to the girls, who then dressed up in a wardrobe of sparkly clothes and accessories. They got to walk a “runway,” which was videotaped and turned into a flip book souvenir for the kids to take home.

All in all, there were more than 30 Art booths and 30 food vendors, so there was something for everyone to do or check out. But most important of all, $600,000 was raised for art enrichment programs in Los Angeles public schools. Well done!
