Glam Slam: Five Fab Fall Trends

One easy way to dip my toe into fall trends is with an animal print! I, for one, am so happy that classic leopard and reptile prints are big again this season and luckily I already own quite a few pieces! Instyle suggests incorporating the big trends of the season with what you already own, which is strong style advice. Here, the magazine showcases five trends to try!

Wild Things – Spotted!
A pack of refined animal prints in a neutral palette. This season, animal prints are more elegant than ever, (Zoe Saldana is proof!) reimagined in small prints, classic silhouettes and work-appropriate tailoring.

Go Green
Bolder than black and more unexpected than blue, earthy verdant shades are having a moment. Especially in rich textures like mohair and tweed, green looks good on every skin tone. If you have cool undertones, opt for a blue-based teal, while warm undertones look best in most with its sunnier cast. Can’t decide? Super-dark forest is universally flattering (See Jessica Alba’s top)

Knitting Circle
Thank last winter’s polar vortex for this season’s slew of gorgeous, chill-proof woolens. Capes, slouchy sweaters and chic dresses in cozy knits are poised to be closet staples once the weather drops. Oversized knit on knit ensembles are great on the runway, but for every day, interpret this trend with thick cardigans, soft crewnecks or slinky dresses.

Natural Wonders
Like the most-enchanting fairy tales, nature-inspired looks have a bit of a dark side. Strewn with ethereal flowers, woodland motifs and a flurry of delicate winged creatures, these fanciful pieces conjure images of a magical realm. For a day look, pick either a top or a bottom and mix it with neutrals. For evening, up the drama with a statement dress or coat.

A Fine Line
Eye-catching patterns are a vision to behold, so think bold and show your stripes. There’s something irresistibly off-kilter about this season’s graphic pieces. But don’t be fooled by their irreverence-there’s craftsmanship between the lack of symmetry. A strong print demands a lot of attention, so don’t mix it with another statement piece.
