Glam Slam: Get A Red Carpet Glow

The annual Oscar Luncheon was held in Beverly Hills yesterday, so we’re in the home stretch now with the big day less than three weeks away!

The stars — like Sandra Bullock and Lupita Nyong’o (seen at yesterday’s luncheon) — are prepping for that walk down the red carpet and are getting their skin in shape now!

Celebrity estetician Olga Lorencin-Northrup, founder of Kinara Skin Care Clinic (and its famous Red Carpet Facial and at-home Red Carpet Facial Kit), shares ways we can all get great skin, whether it’s for an award show or a life event like a wedding or reunion.

“Everyone’s skin is completely different and needs to be tailored individually in order to get a glowing complexion,” says Olga, whose celebrity clients include Halle Berry, Sofia Vergara and Eva Mendes.

“There is no one size fits all when it comes to skin care, unless it is a professional product that is designed for all skin types. For a one-size-fits-all product that is accessible to everyone, your best options would be Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel, (original formula) or the Kinara Red Carpet Facial Kit.

“I would recommend having a tried and true peel that you love to prep your skin. Depending on the peel, and how often you use it, you should generally do a peel at least two weeks in advance of the event.

“You should keep clear of all allergens or foods that would make you bloated. Wheat, dairy, corn, soy and sugar (that includes alcohol.)

“Don’t do any new treatments a couple of days before your big event, as you never know how you will react to them.

“Drink a lot of green drinks (spinach, kale) and water. Drink raw, organic, fresh juice. Combine freshly juiced fruits and vegetables, which provide the body with an easily digestible, absorbable, nutrient dense food source that requires little energy to break down. Get creative on your own at home or visit your nearest juice bar to find your favorite blend,” Olga explains.

Olga also recommends some household ingredients that are good to have in your pantry, in case you need to combat any real life beauty emergencies:

  • Epsom salt dissolved in water is good for acnaic skin.
  • Honey is a helpful ingredient to have to mix in various homemade masks.
  • Olive oil, is another ingredient that is good to mix into a homemade mask, depending on what kind of skin you have, I would not use it for acnaic skin.
  • A combination of egg whites and a few lemon drops is good for acneic skin and can be a helpful skin tightening agent
