Want to own a piece of Hollywood history? Costumes from the much buzzed about mini series “The Kennedys” are up for grabs starting tomorrow, including 27 original ensembles worn by Katie Holmes.
SeenOn.com is hosting a private sale of the one-of-a kind costumes from the series, which airs Sunday April 3 on the Reelzchannel, including replicas of the original Oleg Cassini designs created for First Lady Jackie Kennedy.
The gorgeous ball gown Cassini designed for the 1961 Inaugural Dinner, was redesigned and made especially for the TV mini series by the legendary Giorgio Armani (who created Katie’s gown for her wedding to Tom Cruise). The Jackie ensemble includes the beaded gown, silk cape and shoes and is valued at $10,000!
A retro floral print sleeveless shift dress is featured in a scene where Jackie and Jack, played by Greg Kinnear, walk on the beach at the Kennedy Compound in Hyannis Port. Jackie was photographed in something very similar walking on a beach with John Jr. in Palm Beach. Other iconic looks in the mini series include Jackie’s 1960 Election Day ensemble of a purple double breasted coat over a royal blue dress and the black two-piece wool suit Jackie wore to JFK’s funeral and when she moved out of the White House. Jackie wore the suit on multiple occasions because she rarely wore black and did not have a lot of clothing appropriate for mourning. In fact, because Jackie didn’t have time to buy a dress for the funeral, she had a Dior suit she already owned dyed black.
SeenOn.com has also put together a collection of looks inspired by Jackie including retro sunglasses from Chloe, Bloch oxfords and ballet flats and Valentino scarves. There is also an assortment of classic and vintage jewels based on Jackie’s go-to looks, including her signature pearls and brooches.
The costumes and the “Inspired by Jackie” collection go on sale tomorrow in two separate online events at 9am PST and then again on Sunday April 3 at 9am PST and are only available until Wednesday April 6.
