Glam Slam: Get Salma’s Sexy ‘Do

Salma Hayek has been on a non-stop global promotional tour for her new animated film, “Puss in Boots.” (She plays feline femme fatale Kitty Softpaws—purrfect casting!)

Hitting the road with Salma is her longtime hair stylist Robert Vetica, who has also worked with Jessica Simpson, Cate Blanchett and Marion Cotillard.

“Salma’s look for the premiere was fresh and modern,” Robert says, “easily done by blow-drying each section with a large round brush, making sure to blow-dry sections away from the face.”

“Salma had her hair cut and colored in Paris,” Robert says. “She has an incredible amount of hair, so this cut is great for her, because her hair still remains long and sexy. The great thing about this cut is that it works on all face shapes. I would recommend to women who would like to request a similar cut, to have their stylist start the layers at the chin, which is key to making this cut flattering on all face shapes. Golden highlights were also added for a touch of freshness, the golden hue compliments her skin tone well. It’s quite beautiful and a great change for any woman who wants a new look, but doesn’t want to lose the length. Because the cut is so layered, it is very versatile.”

Here’s how you can get Salma’s premiere look:

Start by dividing your hair into four sections: First, down the middle to the back, then ear to ear. That’s two in front and two in back. Take one of the sections in the back where the hair is thickest and starting at the bottom, blow-dry hair using a medium size round brush. Dry in 2-inch sections, then repeat on the other side.

Now do the top using the same technique and direct everything away from the face. To ensure a better blow out, take five Velcro rollers and roll huge sections of hair. Spray with hair spray and hit with some heat from your dryer.

Let cool while you do your makeup or get ready. Take out rollers and give a good brushing. The result? Easy, bouncy, beautiful hair!
