“I have kids! I’m a mom! I have school, I have homework. It’s a lot!”
That’s Gwen Stefani and if you think you have a lot on your plate, her schedule could make a grown woman cry. As you’ve probably noticed by now, I LOVE me some Gwen Stefani — I just think she’s the coolest. I love her music, her fashion, her attitude. The busy mom to sons Kingston (5) and Zuma (3) has just gotten busier with her new affordable kids line for Target called Harajuku Mini for Target.
“I’ve been working on this thing for almost three years. So, for me, it’s like really surreal that it’s actually happening,” she says. “I really wanted to do this so bad. Being able to make stuff for the right price point and get it out there so people can actually have access to it. This is like the ideal situation to have. It’s really exciting.”
There are more than 80 pieces in the toddler-to-tween collection including mini biker jackets, skinny jeans, adorable sneakers, and backpacks.
“This is really cute and really wearable. It’s so fun—the first time I went in for the fittings, and they brought out all the little mannequins—they actually have diapers on them! When you’re fitting, you’re fitting with a diaper,” she laughs. “I wanted it to look like all of my signature looks that I’ve done through the years, kind of for children. I wanted to bring fashion to kids.”
And she has. Her own two very stylish kids helped her through the process of designing the collection. “My kids have a big opinion about it,” she reveals.
“I’m just excited. I think that Mom’s are going to walk into Target and lose their minds– ‘Are you serious right now? And it’s $20? All right, I’m taking five.’ I feel really proud of it. It’s fun to be creative. It’s fun to bake the cookies and have everyone eat them. It’s a great feeling.”
