Glam Slam: Makeup Mondays ─ Spring Trends to Try!

Another award show season is over and once again the red carpet proves a great place to find plenty of spring beauty inspiration. Sonia Kashuk, makeup artist and founder of ‘Sonia Kashuk Beauty’ says “spring is a great time to experiment with color and this season is no different. Bold, bright hues marked by fresh new textures and unexpected finishes offer a new twist on old favorites.”

Sonia gives us the beauty breakdown on three big trends and product picks from her cosmetics line to help you achieve the look.

SKIN:
Dewy skin is always in, but this season, try kicking it up a notch for a truly radiant complexion as seen on the runways at ‘Prabal Gurung’ and ‘Rodarte’. Highlighters are the best option to achieve this look, applied to the bridge of the nose and the highs of the cheekbones. This allows you to create targeted definition to the face, reawakening the skin from the drabness of winter and creating a luminous glow.

Celebrity example: Halle Berry at the Oscars.

Sonia’s product recommendation: ‘Chic Luminosity Highlighter Stick’ in ‘Sparkling Sands’, which was actually used on Halle at the Oscars.

EYES:
From a light dusting of pastel pink to a bold swipe of hot fuchsia, rouge colored shadows are one of the biggest eye trends this season; and were all over the runways for spring 2013. The best way to take this daring editorial trend to an everyday look is by choosing a neutral variation of the shade with warm peachy pink or a soft earthy rose eye shadow. Add playfulness to the look with various finishes from matte and metallic to shimmer, all work well for this ultra-feminine look.

Celebrity example: Taylor Swift at the Billboard Music Awards.

Sonia’s product recommendation: ‘Monochrome Eye Quad’ in ‘Textured Rose’.

LIPS:
Colorful, juicy lips are quintessential in spring, but this season they come with a textural twist. The focus will be on beautiful melon shades that combine the freshness of orange with the timeless beauty of red, in a matte or satin finish to create a powdery soft look. Pair bold lips with a nude face, as seen at ‘Missoni’, for a clean, modern aesthetic.

Celebrity example: Jessica Alba at the Golden Globes.

Sonia‘s product recommendation: ‘Satin Luxe Lip Color with SPF 16’ in ‘Red Orange’.
