Glam Slam: Makeup Mondays — Beauty Trends For 2010

Jade green nail polish? Soooooo last decade. What will be big this year? Holly Carter, Beauty Editor of People StyleWatch gives her beauty forecast for 2010.

BRIGHT, BOLD LIPS
It was all about red on the Spring 2010 runways of Dior, Dolce & Gabbana and Prada. For those who tend to shy away from this notice-me shade, know that there are subtle ways to wear it. Try a glossier finish (instead of matte) or go for a less intense stain.

PASTEL SHADOW
Instead of the sultry smokey look, try enhancing eyes with soft pink, lavender, pale blue and even yellow. Apply a swipe of color close to the lash line or go bold with an all-over-the-lid look. Don’t forget the black mascara, it will add some complementary contrast to your pale lids.

GRAY NAIL POLISH
This neutral shade is a chic alternative to more traditional nudes like pale pink. And as a lighter, softer choice than the ever-trendy black polish, it also goes with everything.

BRAIDS
Don’t think this style is solely for schoolgirls. Braids can be sexy and chic. The secret is to wear them in an undone way with tousled texture and face framing pieces. One braid looks great on long hair or try incorporating a braid at the hairline if you have a shorter style.
