Glam Slam: Makeup Mondays — Fall’s Purple Reign

After months of light, sunny, golden hues, I’m ready for Fall’s darker eye makeup. Carol Shaw, the creator of LORAC cosmetics and celebrity makeup artist who has worked with Rachel Bilson, Nicole Kidman and Debra Messing, suggests going with purple!

“I created a palette for Fall that has your neutrals for day and also has smoky purples,” she says. “You can create a sexy, sultry but very modern smoky eye that’s perfect for this season.”

Carol recently did a smoky purple eye on Debra Messing at the “Women in Film Awards” using her new LORAC Fall Private Affair Palette, an eye shadow and eye primer palette with six eye shades of shimmery neutrals, silvery greys and sparkling purples.

Purple sometimes scares people off, but you can do it. It’s all about finding a color you are comfortable with.

“There are many shades of purple. If you are daring you can go for the brighter shades of purple. My favorites are the more wearable shades of purple that are smokier and looking a little more natural.”

“To wear this look, apply a highlighter under your brow bone. Then, take either a neutral shade or a lighter purple and blend in the crease for definition. Then, take a deep, dark purple and smudge all over the lid and you can also smudge underneath your lower lashes. Finish with black eye liner and lots of mascara!”

“With a smoky eye you want the eyes to be the main focus. Keep your lips light with a nude or a light pink gloss. (Try LORAC Couture Shine Liquid Lipstick in Vintage or Haute.)”
