Glam Slam: Makeup Mondays — Glam Going Out Looks!

I just went to my friends Cindy and Rob’s annual Summer Solstice party… the weekend before that it was a big birthday blowout at a trendy spot on Sunset Boulevard, as well as a few nice dinners out in Hollywood.

Somehow, the social calendar always seems to be a little more full in the Summertime, right? Make sure your Summer makeup fits the occasion.

“Summer equals sexiness!” says People StyleWatch Beauty Director Holly Carter. “On the beauty front, that means heating up your look with notice-me makeup.” Holly shares her tips for two looks… bronzed or bright.

COLORFUL LIKE EVA MENDES
Play with color! Just remember, only pick one feature (eyes, lips or cheeks) to brighten up.

For eyes – try an aquatic influence. Blue, from teal to cobalt, can look gorgeous on any skin tone. There are so many ways you can wear it. For something subtle, try just a touch of shadow on your upper lash lines, blue liner or a coat of blue mascara on top of basic black. For a bolder take, brush teal or aqua across your upper lids.

For lips – put your pout in the spotlight. Vibrant glosses in shades of fuchsia, red and coral are fun and flirty. Choose one that’s sheer for just a splash of color or go for a more pigmented formula for extra drama.

For cheeks – for a just-pinched effect, blend a bright pink blush on the apples of your cheeks. Go with a cream or gel formula as they wear well in humidity… powder can get streaky.

BRONZED LIKE WHITNEY PORT
If you are more of a natural girl, stick to a fresh-from-the-beach, sun-kissed look.

For eyes – copper, bronze and golden shadows create a pretty shimmer. Find a palette with all three and swirl them together, you can’t go wrong! Try it on the lids, lower lash lines and even the inner corners of eyes. Finish with a couple of coats of mascara to complement the sparkle.

For lips – go nude. A neutral pink, taupe or shimmery sheer peach gloss adds shine and barely-there color that can be worn day or night.

For face – no matter what your skin tone, bronzers are a must! Brush color on cheekbones, forehead, chin and the bridge of your nose (the places where the sun would naturally hit your face). Opt for a shade that’s no more than two shades darker than your own skin tone for a believable result.
