Glam Slam: Makeup Mondays — Holiday Trends To Try

There are still plenty of holiday parties on the agenda, but don’t let the craziness of the season zap your beauty inspiration.

Sonia Kashuk, Makeup Artist and Founder of Sonia Kashuk Beauty, is here with some gorgeous holiday trends to try.

ROSY CHEEKS: (Like Selena Gomez!)
Swirl a bright pink blush, like my Beautifying Blush in Flamingo, over the apples of your cheeks to achieve that “just came in from the cold” flush.

Maintain the sweetness of the face by applying a soft shimmering shadow in a light, neutral hue to the eyes, and a bright pink lip color with gloss to the lips. Add black liner to the upper lash line, as well as the upper and lower water lines for added drama. Finish with a few coats of mascara.

METALLIC SMOKEY EYES: (Like Scarlett Johansson!)
Use the same technique as a traditional smokey eye, but with a little more edge. Choose varying tones of a single color, such as gunmetal grey or deep amethyst to create a gradient effect.

Begin with the lightest shade, and cover the entire lid from lash line to crease. Next, take the medium shade and add depth in the crease.

Continue with the medium shade, and smudge color along the lower lash line. Using the darkest shade, create definition and color intensity by applying at the upper lash line, and then blending color into the lid. Finish with a few coats of mascara, and black eyeliner in the water line. As for the rest of the face, add a soft flush to cheeks with a subtle peach blush, and keep likes neutral with a nude lip color.

PLUM LIP: (Like Rihanna!)
Purple shades can be tricky, if you go too blue, the vibrancy will make lips stand out from the rest of the face and throw off the whole look.

Choose a hue with a nice balance of blue and brown, like my Ultra Shine Sheer Lip Gloss in Sexy. Once you’ve picked out your perfect shade of plum, prep lips with a sheer coat of foundation to smooth out lines and neutralize the base. Next, line lips with a similar plum color to create shape – you can slightly overdraw if a fuller pout is desired. Fill in the rest of the lips with the same liner to create a dry, matte base for the lip color to adhere, extending wear substantially.

Now, apply lip color. For lipstick, apply using a lip brush for more control, using a concealer to correct any mistakes. For lip gloss, simply use the applicator wand.

Keep the rest of the look simple—flawless skin, natural eyes and groomed brows, letting the bold lips serve as the center of attention.
