Glam Slam: Makeup Mondays – Sizzling Summer Makeup!

Temperatures have already hit the 90’s here in SoCal and I keep thinking of the Wicked Witch in “The Wizard of Oz” when she screams “I’m melting, I’m melting away” because my MAKEUP has been melting away in this heat.

Jennifer Turchi, Key Makeup Artist on the CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother”, shares her tips for keeping your makeup cool during the hot Summer.

1) Ditch the heavy coverage foundation. For a healthy glow, apply a tinted moisturizer with SPF, like Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Illuminating. www.sephora.com Then simply spot cover blemishes with a concealer (try AmazingConcealer by AmazingCosmetics www.amazingcosmetics.com)

2) Fake orange tan is OUT! Looking naturally sunkissed is in. After the tinted moisturizer, take a large powder brush and sweep a powdered bronzer (wet n wild Ultimate Minerals Bronzer is an affordable choice www.walgreens.com) over the high points of your face where the sun would hit first – forehead, chin, bridge of the nose and top of the cheekbones.

3) Toss your opaque lipsticks and sticky glosses… it’s all about lip stains and lip sheers this season. To achieve that perfect pink color of a baby’s lips, choose a berry tone. No lip liner for this look! For a customized lip stain, Tricia Sawyer Beauty Clearly Pretty enhances your natural lip color. www.triciasawyer.com. For a new berry colored lip sheer, try wet n wild Diamond Brilliance Lip Sheen in Tamara’s Tiara.

4. Keep your look natural by skipping harsh eyeliner. Make lashes look thicker by lightly dotting a brown pencil at the lash line and smudging it with the tip of your ring finger. Try Black Opal Precision Eye Definer in Metallic Bronze available at drugstores nationwide.
