Glam Slam: Makeup Mondays — The Rachel Weisz Edition

Rachel Weisz let her bright and bold orange Victoria Beckham dress do most of the talking at the LA premiere of “Oz The Great and Powerful,” keeping her natural looking makeup and sleek, shiny hair on the understated side.

Here, the breakdown of her hair and beauty looks…

MAKEUP:
WHO: Chanel Celebrity Makeup Artist Kate Lee

INSPIRATION: Because the color of Rachel’s dress was so specific I didn’t want to complicate the overall look by using any color on the face, so I decided on a lined, Sophia-esque eye with a sculpted brow to complement Rachel’s slick, fashionable hair.

HOW TO:
Skin: I prepped the skin using CHANEL Sublimage Essential Revitalizing Concentrate to add a dose of hydration.

Foundation: I wanted the complexion to glow and appear dewy so I used CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 to give the skin luminosity and uniformity.

Blush: On the cheeks, I used Laura Mercier’s cream blush in Praline and traced under the cheekbone with Kevyn Aucoin shading powder. I then highlighted the cheekbones and jaw line with the new Poudre Signee de Chanel Illuminating Powder to add dimension.

Eye Shadow: Rachel has the most exquisite eye shape so I decided to focus on elongating the eye with a line along the upper lashes and a short disconnected line under the eye. I used Linge Graphique de Chanel Liquid Eyeliner to trace the line along the base of the lashes then sharpened the ends with a short angled brush which finessed the shape. In the socket line, I added some brown shadow to create depth and then added a light concealer just under the highest part if the brow.

Mascara: Lashes were curled and given a coat of Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in Noir.

Brows: The brows were sculpted with Anastasia’s Brunette Brow Powder and set in place with clear brow gel.

Lips: After lining the lips, I used CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in Boy.

THE LOOK: Sleek Low Bun

HOW TO:
Mist hair with Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Heat Protect & Shine Spray before blowing hair out with a large round brush to ensure the hair is smooth.

Once dry, flat iron the roots and mid lengths of the hair for a glossy finish. Then using a rat tail comb, create a deep side part.

Use Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Extreme Smooth Combing Crème over the surface of the hair and tightly brush the hair back into a low ponytail. Use a hair band to secure the ponytail in place at the nape of the neck.

Comb a small amount of Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Mega Firm Hold Gel through the ponytail to keep the hair together.

To create the looped circular bun, start at the bottom of the ponytail and roll the hair underneath it until it reaches the base of the ponytail. Secure the roll with bobby pins.

Lastly, smooth gel over the top of the hair for a super shiny look and lock the entire look in place with hairspray to smooth any flyaways.
