Glam Slam: One For The Guys

I spend most of my time writing about fashion for WOMEN and I’ll admit that the men get a little lost in the style shuffle. That doesn’t mean I don’t think about the guys. I just saw Justin Timberlake at the Emmys and he always looks stylish to me. David Beckham… don’t get me started… he just KILLS it! Diddy is totally dapper!

So here’s one for the fellas. Erin Benke, a personal stylist at Nordstrom at The Grove in Los Angeles gives her expert picks for the five trends for men that are super hot for Fall.

TREND: CARDIGANS & BEYOND
Get the Look: Cardigans continue to impress and evolve this season. Thick yarns and texture are the common denominator with a large focus on detail: stand up collars, zippers, buttons and hoods. John Varvatos makes a great hooded cardigan or try a cashmere cardigan by Vince.

TREND: LONG, LEAN AND TRIM
Get the look: Put away your boot cuts from two seasons ago, it’s all about skinny and straight leg denim! Paired with a cardigan or even a blazer, the slimmer silhouette is more modern and chic. As for suits, there’s a new (shorter or shrunken) silhouette that is proving that investing is the better transaction! Three-button, two-button, double-breasted and vested variations are mixed with trim-fit shirts, constructed trousers and flat front dress pants. Try the Armani Collezioni crewneck t-shirt to dress down a blazer or Versace trend fit woven shirt for a night out on the town.

TREND: FOREVER PLAID
Get the Look: No matter if the shirt is designer or from a thrift store, plaid is this season’s iconic staple. Pair a plaid shirt by G-Star with Rock & Republic “Ralph” straight leg jeans (exclusive to Nordstrom) and a pair of Converse for a casual yet sophisticated look.

TREND: PURPLE REIGN
Get the Look: It’s all about muted overtones and bright, colorful undertones this season! Choose a base color such as gray or navy in your sport coat or sweater and jazz it up with a pop of purple in your shirt, tie or socks. Contrast is key: Rock a lavender dress shirt with a tie of darker eggplant hue to compliment the look.

TREND: DISTRESSED FOOTWEAR
Get the Look: Whether you are wearing a boot or slip on, the worn look is key this season! Mark Nason, Gucci and Prada all make a great distressed boot that look like they have weathered the times. Shoes with a rounded or pointy toe create a more modern look.
