Glam Slam: One Minute Makeovers!

Angelina Jolie almost always goes nude when it comes to her lips. But she went with bright crimson while hitting the red carpet for her film ‘Salt,’ proving that one small change can make a big impact! Want some ways to change up your look without making a big commitment?

InStyle beauty editor Kahlana Barfield shares five beauty fixes to help you upgrade your look in 60 seconds or less.

PUCKER UP
Afraid of dark lipstick? Don’t be. This season, rich berry lips grabbed attention at shows such as Proenza Schouler, Luca Luca and Dolce & Gabbana. For a subtle effect, pick a creamy shade (like Lancome lipstick in Cherry Kiki, $40; at Saks Fifth Avenue), dab the color onto the center of your lips and blend outward. Blot with tissue to soften the texture.

PLAY DRESS UP WITH YOUR PONY
So long, basic black elastics. A colorful ribbon can transform any pony from humble to high fashion. The tail feels more modern (and less juvenile) when tousled.

BEEF UP YOUR BROWS
Pronounced brows are ubiquitous on the red carpet, framing faces of celebs like Scarlett Johansson and Camilla Belle. For extra depth, brush brown mascara upward and outward (toward temples); go over the brow with a clean disposable mascara wand to lighten the color.

GET LIFTED
Gently tease the sides of hair with a rattail comb to create the illusion of a longer face. To slim out a round face, amp up the height at the crown.

HIDE IMPERFECTIONS
A sweep of translucent powder over skin before foundation camouflages pores and fine lines for a more flawless finish. Try Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Loose Powder, $34; www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com.
