Glam Slam: Oscar Dress Dilemma

“What am I wearing is what you really want to know,” Sandra Bullock teased reporters at the annual Oscar Luncheon in Beverly Hills yesterday. Yes, of course we want to know!

“I’m so behind, I guess I’m behind on this,” Sandra admitted. “Today was the first time I actually saw one dress and then looked at some sketches. I’m oddly relaxed about it, because it’s someone else’s job to finally stitch thousands of pleats and jewels into a gorgeous thing to make you look divine. So look, if I have to wear a trash bag, I’ll belt it with rhinestones and I’ll make it work. I’m not panicking.”

Sandra is nominated for the first time for her film ‘The Blind Side’ and while she might not be panicked, her fellow nominee, ‘Precious’ star Gabourey Sidibe is more than a little nervous.

“It’s two weeks away and my stomach’s hurting over it a little bit. I’m a little scared,” Gabby said. “I haven’t even started looking at color or anything like that. I got a bunch of sketches through emails & I said that I looked through them, but I lied!” she joked.

The adorable Carey Mulligan, who is nominated for the film ‘The Education’, says she hasn’t given much thought to the dress dilemma. “Um… no, I haven’t. I haven’t thought about — I mean, I’ve thought about it. I’ve got like dream dresses in my head, but I don’t know who will make them. Hopefully someone good.”

‘Crazy Heart’s’ Maggie Gyllenhaal, however, is refreshingly prepared. She actually has her dress already a whole three weeks before the big night!

“It’s a vintage Yves Saint Laurent dress that I think, actually I was trying to figure out why I liked it. I think it’s probably made around when I was born, so maybe, and it’s kind of ‘70s, like the movie, like ‘Crazy Heart’.”

We’ll see what Maggie and all the other nominees choose when the 82nd Annual Academy Awards air March 7th on ABC.
