Glam Slam: Pale Is The New Black

Pale hues dominated the red carpet and were one of the big trends at the Academy Awards. Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain, Amy Adams, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Octavia Spencer, Amanda Seyfried, Kristen Stewart and Zoe Saldana all went with light shades.

My favorite look? Jennifer Lawrence’s Haute Couture Dior. Wow — whatta stunner! I realize a big dress like that isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but the Oscars is the one time you can go big or go home, so why not go for it, especially if you are a nominee (and a winner)! Jennifer balanced the dramatic dress with simple hair and jewelry and I thought the delicate diamond necklace that went down her back was a nice and unusual touch. I think she hit it out of the park.

I also loved Zoe Saldana’s Alexis Mabille Couture gown, which I thought was so feminine and flattering and not like anything else we saw on the red carpet… very unique and fashion forward and I liked that she took a risk with this one.

I also liked Jessica Chastain’s custom copper-colored Armani gown. The embellished silk satin strapless gown features a mermaid silhouette highlighted by a fitted bodice and train. The color of the gown perfectly plays off Jessica’s porcelain skin and red hair, which looked gorgeous styled in retro waves.

Well done, ladies, well done!
