I just got my ears pierced…repierced, actually. The first time, I was about 12 years old. Needless to say, I was the oldest person getting their ears pierced when I did it earlier this week.
After years of wearing long, heavy earrings…my original pierced holes were a mess. So about a year ago, I had them fixed at a plastic surgeons office. After a while, I felt naked without earrings, so I decided to get them repierced…the only question was where to go?
I asked a bunch of moms I know, but most of them took their kids to the pediatrician. Obviously, that wasn’t gonna work for me. The other place that kept coming up was Claire’s Boutique…yep, the store in almost every mall. Apparently, it’s still the place to go and that’s actually where I first got my ears pierced back in middle school! Funny how things come full circle!
If you were wondering, yes, it’s still a tween and tween paradise! And yeah, I felt a little silly as I was surrounded by “BFF’s Forever” and Justin Bieber jewelry. I must admit, I was not aware that Justin Bieber jewelry existed! Clearly, I am so uncool and unhip when it comes to all things tween!
They are very serious about the ear piercings though…I read in the store that they’ve pierced the ears of more than 85 million people, so that made me feel better. I was a little nervous! I filled out some paperwork, and then picked out starter earrings, which come in everything from stainless steel to sterling and white and yellow gold. Prices range from under $20 to just under $55…depending on what you pick out. I went for super simple gold studs.

Then, it was my turn in the hot seat. The lovely woman who did my ears told me she’s pierced all ages…from about two months to 93 years old.
It hurt a little bit. The second ear hurt more than the first one, maybe because I knew what to expect….but overall, a pretty easy process. I’m just glad my ears aren’t “naked” anymore and can’t wait to fun earrings. Think of all the statement earrings I’ve been missing out on!
