Glam Slam: Ready For 2012!

Back to work, back to reality!

Hope your holidays were awesome — did you make any New Year’s Resolutions? While I could stand to lose the extra weight I gained eating way too much yummy Southern food over the holidays, I am not too big on resolutions… especially ones that revolve around diets!

I do, however, have a couple of things I love about the New Year. I always look forward to a fresh start, a clean slate. That starts with my closet. It feels so good to clean it out every January and clear out things that I no longer wear. I need to do the same thing for my two-year-old daughter’s closet, but somehow that one is tougher for me. It’s so hard for me to get rid of the stuff she’s outgrown whether it is clothing, toys, or books. They grow up so fast!!!

I also like getting an early peek at the trends and clothes we will be wearing this year. Here are a couple of things I am looking forward to fashion-wise in 2012!

BRIGHT COLORS
Color will be everywhere. The colored denim trend continues too and for spring orange will be popular, as well as pink. I am also digging the Technicolor makeover classic Sperry Topsiders got at J. Crew. Choose from yellow, turquoise, orange or pink. It’s an easy way to inject some color into your wardrobe without a lot of commitment. Fun!

PASTELS
On the other end of the color spectrum…light, soft colors. When you want to tone things down and take a break from all the bright hues, go for feminine neutrals. Look for blush to be big and I also like soft gray for spring. Mint green jeans will be very popular. All look great with white come summer.

HIP STYLE FOR THE KIDS
When I was in South Carolina for the holidays, I bought quite a few of the adorable pieces from Gwen Stefani’s second Mini Harajuku line for Target. (Much better selection in SC than here in LA!) The collection features a nautical theme including lots of stars, stripes, and adorable tee shirts with mermaids on them. Super cute! www.target.com
