Glam Slam: Runway Debut!

My three year old made her runway debut this weekend. My lovely friend Melissa Magsaysay, new mom and best-selling author of “City of Style,” asked my daughter to be in a fashion show at a special family-friendly Holiday Styling Event she hosted at The Gap at the Grove in Los Angeles.

So fun and festive! Melissa picked out and styled cute winter outfits for the kids, as well as looks for new and expecting moms. My daughter got to wear a pretty teal corduroy dress paired with white furry boots and hat and a white furry purse shaped like a bear. (which I ended up buying for her, it was so cute and she loved it so much!)

After the kids were dressed, they all practiced and took a few turns on the runway. I would never push my daughter into something like this and honestly, I wasn’t sure she would walk on the runway by herself, but she was having fun and everyone got into the festive spirit as a DJ played fun Christmas songs.

There were several activities lined up for the kids to keep them entertained. All of us got to take a private ride on the popular Grove Trolley, which made a stop at Santa’s cottage for a personal visit with Santa himself!

Afterwards, it was back to the store where kiddie manicures were on hand, as well as a candy bar and arts and crafts table. Then it was show time. Melissa was the MC and all the children did a great job…some of the boys slid along the runway like future rock stars. My daughter got up there all by herself…she even did a wave at the end of the runway. I was so proud of her just for having the guts to get up there. Melissa and her Gap and Grove team did a great job of putting together a fun and memorable day for everyone. Well done!
