Glam Slam: Some Day My Prince Will Come

That day is now! Prince Harry is making his first official visit to the United States! The two-day visit includes the dashing Royal participating in the Second Annual Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic. Since the public is invited, you might even snag some face time with the Prince… What’s a girl to do?

Today’s FRIDAY FIVE is royal etiquette tips – courtesy of iVillage Entertainment Editor Jacki Garfinkel.

1. DON’T SPEAK

Nonverbal communication, Ladies! “Don’t speak unless spoken to” is a cardinal rule with British royalty according to Jacki.

2. DON’T TOUCH

Keep your hands to yourself. Give a small curtsy when you come upon the Prince and if he wants to have some skin-to-skin contact, he’ll be the one reaching out his hand for a handshake.

3. SAY MY NAME

Or not. Don’t call him Prince Harry. Upon first meeting the Prince on any given day, call him Your Royal Highness. The rest of that day, you may call him Sir.

4. EATING ETIQUETTE

If you happen to find yourself at a meal with Prince Harry, it’s considered a big no-no to get up from the table once seated for dinner. Jacki says that if you have to “go”, you need to make your exit in between courses and they will wait for you to return before serving the next course.

5. IT’S A DATE!

Hoping for some private time with the Prince this weekend? Sadly, you’re out of luck. The Prince is so busy that if you want a one-on-one with him, you need to send an invite to his private secretary… 6 months in advance!
