Glam Slam: The Fierce Friday Five

“I always say that fierce is not a definable word. It’s just a state of being.”

So says ‘Project Runway’ winner Christian Siriano and really, what fashionista wouldn’t want to live in a permanent state of fierceness!? Now you can – thanks to Christian’s new book ‘Fierce Style How To Be Your Most Fabulous Self.’

The designer gives his golden rules for what else? Looking fierce.

DO: TAKE CHANCES
Experiment. And do play around with fashion at any age. Any mom or dad, grandma or grandpa, out there who wants to mix it up is fabulous. When you take chances, you learn what works and what looks good on you.

DON’T: WEAR FAKES
Simply put, fakes are cheesy. They’re just not worth it. Start small and get that one thing that you can’t live without. But don’t waste your time or money unless it’s the real thing.

DO: DRESS FOR YOUR SHAPE
It sounds obvious, but there are so many people out there who dress in clothes they love – but that don’t necessarily work for them. Working with your shape, not against it, will have you looking great. Clothes that don’t suit you are distracting.

DON’T: REPEAT A FULL OUTFIT
Repeating a full outfit means missing a chance to try wearing something new. Always change up at least one element of your outfit so you don’t get stuck in a rut.

DO: LOVE YOUR HAIR
Don’t forget another important piece of your look: your hair. It really is one of the most important places to spend your time and money. If you hate it, you’re not going to look, feel or act fierce. If you like what you’ve got naturally, then work it out, honey and more power to you. But if you aren’t happy with your hair, don’t be afraid to make a change.
