Glam Slam: The Friday Five: Holiday Style From Michael Kors

Angelina in black leather. Blake Lively in neon pink. Debra Messing in ruby crystals. I’d say 2009 has been a pretty fabulous year when it comes to red carpet style statements courtesy of one of Hollywood’s favorite go to designers, Michael Kors. No wonder his latest fragrance is called “Very Hollywood Michael Kors!”

Michael may be on the speed dial of many a star, but what I love about him is that he also designs for real women. Michael (who will be spending the holidays relaxing at the beach!) shares his tips for creating your own holiday sparkle this season.

1. What are your favorite looks for women for this holiday party season?

“I love the idea of shine - why not a chic cap sleeve t-shirt dress in gold sequins - its festive and modern. Play with texture and shine, avoid the clichés - velvet, tartans and bows. You want to look chic not gift wrapped.”

2. Your favorite accessories right now that are a must for any wardrobe?

“Glazed python makes a great statement - especially in a season appropriate red… a real punctuation point for a LBD.”

3. How would you accessorize a one-shoulder cocktail dress?

“I love the idea of using a strip thin skinny belt in metallic gold with coordinating strappy sandals and a gold clutch with a black one-shoulder dress. I am a stickler for keeping your metal matching - I am actually really OCD to make sure that each metal from the shoe to the watch and bag hardware all are the same.”

4. Give us a quick and easy way to take an outfit from day to night (office to party).

“Adding a great statement necklace to a day dress is an instant game changer - great shoes, fragrance, lipstick and an evening clutch all help the transformation.”

5. What is the perfect host/hostess gift to bring someone?

“I love to give champagne, a great photo book or a scented candle, indulgent things that the hostess can appreciate even when the party is long over.”
