Glam Slam: The Friday Five – Orange!

Even though summer is winding down, we’re still lusting over bright colors and even transitioning them into fall. Orange, summer’s biggest color, will still be hot when the temperature drops. We talked to the pros to discuss five different ways to rock the orange trend.

NAILS:
Josephine Allen, head manicurist at the Essie Flagship Salon, says that though orange is bright, it can be worn on any length of nail and any shape. If you’re hesitant to go bright, she suggests starting with a coral, such as Capri, ClamBake, and Meet Me At Sunset. If you’re feeling bold, go for Saturday Disco Fever, which Josephine says is “one of the hottest colors of the summer.”

LIPS:
MAC Senior Artist Caitlin Callahan says that to pull off orange lips, you should “keep your skin dewy with BB Creams, lots of mascara, and little else.” She suggests MAC’s Morange, but remember that “minimal is sexy with an orange lip.”

EYES:
Caitlin says that orange “can really enhance blue or green eyes,” and should be used to “add a pop of color on the lid.” She suggests Amber Lights eye shadow and Feline eyeliner to rim your eyes, making them stand out. Don’t forget to load on the mascara!

CHEEKS:
Orange cheeks are incredibly wearable and flattering. To get the best results, use a bronzer to contour your face, then Caitlin says to “add a pop of orange on the apple of the cheek.” This works because “the brightness of the orange blends beautifully into the gold of the bronzer.” Keep the rest of your makeup neutral to tie everything together.

EARRINGS:
If orange makeup isn’t for you, brighten up your face with orange earrings! The C. Wonder Bling Stud earrings in Apricot and Orange Pop are a great addition to your jewelry box. C. Wonder says that “these bright earrings are versatile as they are and work perfectly with barely there summer styles and add a much needed pop of color to your fall wardrobe.”
