Glam Slam: The Friday Five Super Bowl Edition

If you’re like me then you don’t even know who is playing in the Super Bowl, let alone plan on watching it! One thing I do know — it can be hard finding girl-friendly activities during the game.

So this week’s Friday Five is dedicated to helping you survive Super Bowl Sunday!

Not interested in the Super Bowl? How about the Puppy Bowl? Animal Planet offers its annual showdown featuring an all-star all-adoptable lineup of adorable canines! (3pm ET/PT).

Another option? TBS’ “Movies Women Want” marathon with classic chick flicks like “Clueless” and “My Best Friend’s Wedding”.

Or, head to the theaters for a chick flick fix! Renee Zellweger’s newest romantic comedy, “New in Town” (co-starring Harry Connick Jr.) opens today. Frankly, we were sold just by the Louis Vuitton luggage on the movie poster!

“Confessions of a Shopaholic” hits screens in two weeks so there’s still time to read the book first! Sophie Kinsella’s novel features the charming but cautionary credit card adventures of Rebecca Bloomwood (played in the movie by Isla Fisher).

Head to select Bliss Spas (a favorite of Kate Hudson) for their Super Bowl “spa” day, featuring glamour and giveaways! (www.blissworld.com). If you can’t make it, try Bliss’ at home Honey Oatmeal facial! Finely grind ½ cup oatmeal in a blender or food processor. In a small bowl stir together 2 tablespoons of honey and ¼ cup plain yogurt. Add the oatmeal and mix thoroughly into a paste. Smooth over your face and neck, leave on for five to fifteen minutes and rinse off with warm water.

Forget the fattening nachos and cheese! Invite the girls over for healthy snacks instead. One of my favorite websites, www.hungry-girl.com, offers no guilt alternatives to game day grub like Amazing ATE-Layer Dip, which is just 100 calories and 1 gram of fat per serving!
