Glam Slam: The Friday Five – The Michelle Obama Edition!

The clock is ticking until Tuesday! Today, I look back at my picks for the five best “Michelle Style Moments” during the Presidential race. (Click here for the complete photo gallery)

1. PURPLE REIGN
My all-time favorite look for the incredibly svelte Michelle is this sleeveless Maria Pinto sheath she wore in June when Obama won the Democratic nomination. Love that she shows off her toned body and that she wears bold colors. The Azzedine Alaia belt is edgy and shows that this is one woman who knows how to accessorize.

2. TRUE BLUE
At the Democratic National Convention in August – another bright color. Another Maria Pinto design. Another accessory home run – this time with a signature brooch. Are we spotting a trend? Michelle knows what works and looks good on her.

3. RAVISHING IN RED
When President Bush and the First Lady welcomed the Obamas to the White House in November, Michelle once again dazzled, this time in a fitted red Maria Pinto dress that really popped on camera. The gathered neckline of the dress – a classy touch.

4. CHEAP CHIC
Gotta love a lady who can look equally stylish whether she’s wearing designer duds or clothing from an affordable chain store. Lady O sent women to White House/Black Market in droves after she wore a $148 black and white floral dress on “The View” in June. That’s what you call a trendsetter.

5. WHO WEARS THE PANTS?
Mostly known for wearing dresses, Michelle mixed it up in a silk black tunic and palazzo pants by Isabel Toledo for a fundraiser in June. I like that she went a different route, and again, she upped the ante with her accessories, in this case, a huge statement necklace. Love that she’s never afraid to take risks.
