Glam Slam: The Friday Five — Ways To Makeover Your Summer Style!

Happy Friday!

We’re one week away from the big Memorial Day weekend and the unofficial kick off of Summer.

To make sure you don’t get stuck in style rut, InStyle has come up with some chic ways to keep your Summer look fresh!

Layer On The Bracelets:
“Mix metals, textures, widths, and colors for a study in contrasts,” says InStyle Accessories Director Leah Karp. Bright string and fabric bracelets give a boho effect, while black leather and chain links take it in an edgy, tough direction. Says Karp, “Lots of variety is the key to what makes this look work.”

Accessorize With A Scarf!
– Tie it Everywhere: At his spring Marc by Marc Jacobs show, the designer sent models down the runway with scarves encircling their necks and waists. Fold a scarf on the diagonal, wrap it around you, knot it, and let the excess hang loose.

– Let it Float On a Bag: Choose a pattern that picks up the color of the purse and knot it around the handle.

– Wrap it Around Your Head: (like Nicole Richie!)
Skinny rectangular scarves work best! Fold it a couple times, place it close to your hairline, and a basic knot at the nape of your neck.

Highlight Your Midriff:
Cropped tops can feel very casual, so try to choose sophisticated pieces for the rest of your outfit! Think sharp blazers, high-waist trousers, or below-the-knee pencil skirts. (Zoe Saldana shows one way you can dress up the look.)

Cinch With A Neon Belt:
Eye-popping fluorescents deliver style in one intense dose. Punch up neutrals like your khaki or cargo pants with a bolt of acid green, flamingo pink, or juicy orange.

Mix Stripes:
You need at least one shade that’s similar among all the striped pieces you’re wearing or things get too dizzy. Combine widths, colors, and sizes.
