Glam Slam: The Summer’s Hottest Accessories

The other day, my boss made fun of me for wearing a “Summer scarf” saying there is no such thing and who wears a scarf in warm weather? Ha! What does he know? Not only does it exist, it continues to be a stylish trend. Accessory Designer CC SKYE, whose celeb fans include Rihanna, Halle Berry, Gwen Stefani and Katy Perry gives us her five accessory must-haves for the Summer.

1. THE SUMMER SCARF
The light weight and ultra soft Summer scarf is a continuation of the beloved knitted scarf that was a must-have accessory for Fall and Winter. We seem to not want to let go of this one yet! I love a great scarf in a pop color like coral or turquoise layered with neutral shades. It can double as a shawl to graze your shoulders on cooler Summer nights or the standout statement of any outfit as it gives you that casual layered look that is still so strong.

2. HOT SHOE OF THE SUMMER
The platform has come onto the shoe scene like wild fire and the shapes will only continue to get bigger and more over the top as we move into future seasons. Platforms are a chic, yet comfortable option because they have a naturally low pitch (meaning your toe and heel are more even) and are surprisingly easy to walk in. Great platform styles include layers of height into the 5” inch realm and wedges that are often featured in many shades of rich, dark wood as well as leather covered platforms in bright colors.

3. HOT SUMMER BAG
The hottest Summer bag style blends the bohemian free spirit with a rock n’ roll edge. I love a clean Summer white or cream as well. This brings me to my bag of choice for the Summer – the CC SKYE Olivia bag. (A fave of Heidi Klum, Jessica Simpson and Kim Kardashian.) I carry it in black exotic python and notice that people are also loving it in two-tone white python with black leather contrast trim. The Olivia bag is stylish and laid back and can be worn as a shoulder bag or a tote, which is a feature I love in any bag.

4. LAYERED SUMMER JEWELRY
The jewelry I’m loving for Summer is layered bracelets (the skinnier the better) with an edgy, bohemian feel. Right now mixed metals are really strong which makes layering extra effortless as you can mix silver and gold without having to match your watch and all of your jewelry! I designed the Starburst Bangles (which Jessica Alba has) with these trends in mind. They come in gold, silver and gunmetal so you can layer all three together or mix in with other bangles from your jewelry collection. The jagged edges and pave crystals add some edge but the mixing of metals still gives it that bohemian feel.

5. HOT SUNGLASSES
I love aviator sunglasses that have a retro look and feel to them. I’m obsessed with my Carrera aviators, they’re more of a sporty beach look, but they translate into any outfit. A lot of guys wore this brand in the ‘80s and now it’s becoming a trend for women. They are surprisingly inexpensive, I bought them for $100 and they come in black and white.
