Glam Slam: Three Fitness Secrets Of Hollywood Moms

Kim Kardashian recently went on a Twitter tear, revealing that she’s not happy with her post-baby body. “After the baby, my body’s just changed,” she told us afterwards when we asked her about her Twitter rant. “Like I always say, I thought my butt was big enough, it’s even bigger after the baby and I don’t like it. I don’t like it. I’m not crazy, you want to feel secure and comfortable.” I know exactly how she feels. My second child just turned 13 months old and I don’t think my body will ever quite be the same.

I appreciate Kim’s candor because it seems that most Hollywood moms get their bodies back so quickly after birth. Leah Keller, creator of The Dia Method, (pregnancy and post pregnancy exercises) reveals how regular moms can achieve celebrity results. “The secret to getting your body back post-pregnancy comes down to science,” she says. “Most pregnancies cause some degree of abdominal separation, a medical condition called diastasis recti, which leaves women with the dreaded “mommy pooch”. Diastasis recti (“the pooch”) can be eliminated without surgery when moms perform the right kind of core training.” In addition to exercise, Leah also shares other ways to help get rid of that very stubborn belly fat.

The non-surgical tummy tuck: 1 key move

Perform these side planks daily, and you will see measurable results in 6-8 weeks. This is not an ordinary side plank! The secret lies in how you breathe. While in the plank, keep your abs tight to the spine. Then repeatedly pulse them even tighter to the spine. Exhale with each squeeze. Perform 5 planks on each side every day. Start with 30 seconds and gradually work up to one-minute planks. Cardinal rule: never bulge the abs forward!

Forget the chef, remember this: Protein+ Produce at every meal

Start each day with a good source of protein, such as eggs or Greek yogurt, and fresh, whole fruit (no juice!). Think “protein and vegetables” for lunch and dinner (no pasta, rice, bread or starchy veggies).

The must-have accessory: a corset

Correct core training is the key to curing “the pooch,” but a corset provides physical support that can help speed up the healing process. Jessica Alba is one celebrity mom who talks candidly about wearing a corset to get camera ready after having kids.

The first rule of corsets is that they are meant to be very tight. Be sure to always draw your abs and your pelvic floor “up and in” when putting one on. On the plus side, the tightness of the corset means it can be very flattering as it accentuates all the right curves! When looking for a corset, choose one that’s adjustable so you can tighten it as your waist shrinks.

“With science based core training, smart food choices and a sexy corset, you too can embrace the secrets of Hollywood moms to enjoy a fabulous post-pregnancy body,” Leah says. “No matter how long ago you had kids!” I say, Amen to that!
