Glam Slam: White House Style

As we all know, the Obamas are White House bound! For fashion watchers, the big question now is what Michelle will wear on January 20, Inauguration Day.

We asked one of Michelle’s favorite designers, Chicago based Maria Pinto, if she had any gown ideas in mind for the Inaugural Ball.

“I have many in my head. Really pretty ones,” Maria told us before the election.

Now that it’s official, maybe Maria will put her ideas to paper, or pattern, and will start to work on a gown.

“What Not To Wear’s” Stacy London has a definite opinion of what Michelle should wear.

“I would love to see Michelle in something long, cut close to the body, with a boat neck, cap sleeves and a deep scoop in the back. Carolina Herrera or Oscar de la Renta!!!” Stacy said.

As for the color, Stacy said keep it classic.

“I’d actually like to see Michelle in black, believe it or not. Still light weight, like layered chiffon, a banded waist and ruched bust. Something that is timeless, elegant and makes use of her fab height and shows off her arms.”

Los Angeles Times Style Expert Melissa Magsaysay would also like to see Michelle in something that shows off her fabulous shape.

“She is tall, striking and statuesque and can carry off a lot. A dreamy custom-made Nina Ricci would be amazing on her. She has great, toned arms and could do a strapless gown with a beautiful statement necklace close to the collarbone,” Melissa noted.

Of course, no matter which designer Michelle goes with, you can bet the entire family is color coordinated, as they have been for all of their big appearances.
