‘Glee’ Cast To Set Back Out On U.S. Tour This Spring

Coming off their huge post-Super Bowl ratings success, the “Glee” gang announced another run of live concerts. The cast of the hit FOX show will return to stages in the U.S. and Canada for a tour that will take place this spring, before heading out on their previously announced European trek.

Beginning May 21 in Las Vegas, “Glee Live! In Concert” will feature 13 of the show’s ensemble cast, including stars Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Dianna Agron. Season 2 additions Chord Overstreet and Darren Criss will join in performing some of the show’s most memorable musical moments.

The show’s creator, Ryan Murphy, expressed his excitement at conceiving another 16-date tour. “The cast and I were so moved by the love and enthusiasm of our fans at last year’s concerts that we knew we had to do it again,” Murphy said in a statement on Tuesday. “There is something magical about thousands of ‘Gleeks’ coming together to share a special night with our cast.”

Now in its sophomore season, “Glee” has gone from hit television series to branding empire. Soundtracks, books, video games, and clothing lines inspired by the show are widely available in stores. Murphy believes the tour is another way for fans to remain part of the “Glee” experience after the season finale airs. “This tour is one way we can thank them for their unbelievable support from the beginning,” he added.

After mounting a successful run in four American cities last year, a nine-date European tour was planned for this summer.

It seems the members of New Directions won’t be getting a Spring Break after all, but the cast could not be more excited. “Joining the cast this year has been like hopping on a fast-moving train,” commented Overstreet, who plays guitar-toting heartthrob Sam. “I have already had so many incredible experiences, but the chance to perform live on stages across the U.S., Canada and Europe takes the cake. This is too cool.”

Tickets for all tour dates go on sale later this month.
