FOX has ordered a third season of “Glee” – a show still in the midst of its first season — a network rep confirmed to Access Hollywood.

Entertainment Weekly was first to break the news.

The freshman show has earned strong numbers for the network, averaging 13.3 million viewers during its current spring run and 9.4 million overall.

Beyond the ratings, the show has also spun off a live tour and a whopping four albums of iTunes-dominating recorded music.

“In just one year, ‘Glee’ has transcended the television landscape and emerged as a global pop culture phenomenon,” Peter Rice, the Fox Networks Group Entertainment Chairman, told Entertainment Weekly in a statement.

Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly added to the mag, “We couldn’t be more thrilled to give Gleeks a third season of their favorite show.”

The first season’s finale airs on June 8.
