‘Glee’s’ Cory Monteith Talks Filming With ‘Fabulous’ Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow was on the “Glee” set last week, shooting her role as a McKinley High School substitute teacher and series regular Cory Monteith said she’s part of one of the biggest numbers in the show’s history.

“We shot one of the best dance numbers ever!” Cory told Access Hollywood over the weekend at Lucky Strikes Lanes in Los Angeles, where he was shooting a new campaign for OP. “It was amazing.”

Gwyneth will play a substitute who fills in for — and reportedly falls for — Matthew Morrison’s Will Schuester, and she’ll also be showing off her pipes.

“She sings because, of course, she’s fabulous and incredibly talented and our guest star — she sings the leads,” Cory explained.

Cory said he loved being a part of Gwyneth’s big scene, even if he doesn’t have a lot of lines.

“I’m in like, the background or whatever, my name is not completely mud,” he laughed. “I’m just in the background. I’ll take it! I’m like dancing around with Gwyneth Paltrow!”

With “Glee” going from strength to strength, Cory isn’t immune to how his life has changed since the show started.

“It’s been remarkable… I’ve gone from being on a successful TV show, to being on the show people are calling a phenomenon. It’s amazing,” he said. “What’s really cool is the fact that it’s really – it’s impacting people and it’s really influencing the things people do. I hear there’s a lot of glee clubs starting in high schools, so it’s really inspiring.”

Cory added – without addressing the recent GQ cover controversy – that his change in status has meant a change in his lifestyle.

“It came really quickly, I mean it’s great getting that kind of attention and exposure — as an actor it’s the best case scenario, but now, [every time] I leave the house, I make sure my zipper is up and stuff like that, make sure I don’t have food in my teeth or whatever,” Cory said. “And I feel I’m representing the show every time I kind of go out and so I’m trying to be a good representative of my group.”

“Glee” returns to FOX with its highly anticipated “Rocky Horror Glee” episode on Tuesday at 8 PM.
