‘Golden Girls’ Stars Remember Estelle Getty

Following the news of Estelle Getty’s death, some of her Hollywood counterparts are reacting to the sad news.

Among those remembering Estelle were her “Golden Girls” co-stars Rue McClanahan, Bea Arthur and Betty White.

White, who played Rose Nylund on the legendary sitcom, released the following statement to Access Hollywood on Tuesday:

“The only comfort at this moment is that although Estelle has moved on, Sophia will always be with us.”

Meanwhile, Arthur, who despite being just a year younger than Getty was cast as her daughter on the series, also remembered her friend and colleague.

“Our mother-daughter relationship was one of the greatest comic duos ever, and I will miss her,” Arthur said in a statement to Access.

McClanahan, who played the over-the-top Blanche Deveraux on “Golden Girls,” also offered words of remembrance for her friend.

“Estelle always wanted to be an actress and she achieved that goal beyond her dreams. Don’t feel sad about her passing, she will always be with us in her crowning achievement – Sophia,” McClanahan said in a statement to Access. “I love you slats!!!”
