Golden Globes Red Carpet Accessory Must: The Umbrella

There were plenty of jewels and gems on the red carpet, but the biggest accessory in star land at the 67th Annual Golden Globes on Sunday night was an umbrella.

“Nine” beauty Penelope Cruz managed to keep her form-fitting black dress and train dry with a double-tiered black umbrella as she posed for the shutterbugs on the red carpet.

Cameron Diaz, who wore a stunning satin red gown, accessorized with a red and white umbrella from The Beverly Hilton – the Beverly Hills hotel the Golden Globe Awards were held at.

Jon Hamm from “Mad Men” ham-ed it up with his basic black umbrella. He held it out to let the photographers shoot his lady love, Jennifer Westfeldt, and posed himself a few more times, leaning in and with his legs crossed.

Other stars got a little help, like Courteney Cox Arquette, whose husband, David Arquette, stood to the side to let his “Cougar Town” wife take the photographer’s attention in her strapless, floor-length black number. Josh Duhamel also stepped back and held an umbrella over his wife, Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie, as did Nick Cannon, who helped out his wife, “Precious” star Mariah Carey.

Tina Fey seemed to channel Mary Poppins under a blue brolly, which protected her patterned strapless dress and peep-toe kitten heels, while Ginnifer Goodwin looked cute as can be in her royal blue billowing gown under a black umbrella with wooden handle.
