‘Gossip Girl’s’ Leighton Meester Drops New Single ‘Somebody To Love’

Leighton Meester’s talents don’t just end at playing “Gossip Girl’s” Blair Waldorf. The actress debuted a new single, “Somebody To Love,” featuring Robin Thicke on Tuesday.

Leighton has already proved she has vocal chops thanks to her part on the Cobra Starship song, “Good Girls Go Bad,” and she’s back with another potential hit.

“Well, I couldn’t say the ‘f’ word, so somebody to love is like a good [compromise.],” Leighton told Ryan Seacrest on Tuesday for his “On Air With Ryan Seacrest” radio show. “I’m just kidding!”

Leighton first recorded the song solo and then enlisted the help of Robin – who she says she’s “obsessed” with vocally.

“I really wanted to make something completely different than anything that’s on the radio right now,” she explained. “I feel like it’s really dancey and fun, but it’s still laid-back, relaxed and moody and sexy.”

And the song is inspired by her own life.

“It’s defiantly about what’s going on in my life,” she told Ryan. “You’re crazy, you’re busy, you’re young, you’re running around, and it’s really hard to find somebody to love… People love you but you don’t really love them.”

Leighton said she’s hoping her debut album will drop before the end of the year.
