‘Gotham’: Jada Pinkett Smith Signs On As Gangster Boss

“Gotham” has landed a new leading lady.

Jada Pinkett Smith has joined the cast of the Batman prequel, Warner Bros. announced on Wednesday.

The actress will play Fish Mooney, described as “a sadistic gangster boss and nightclub owner,” with street smarts and “almost extra-sensory abilities to read people like an open book.”

Mooney, also noted as “imposing and hotheaded” and “not one to be crossed,” is the boss of Oswald Cobblepot (The Penguin), who will be played by “The Walking Dead” alum Robin Lord Taylor.

Prior to landing the “Gotham” role, Pinkett Smith was most recently seen on the small screen in TNT’s medical drama, “Hawthorne.”

The actress joins previously announced cast members Ben McKenzie (Detective James Gordon), Donal Logue (Gordon’s partner/mentor Harvey Bullock), and Erin Richards (Barbara Kean, Gordon’s love interest).

“Gotham” will air on Fox.
