‘GOT’s’ Gwendoline Christie Headed To ‘The Hunger Games’

Another “Game of Thrones” leading lady is headed to “The Hunger Games” franchise.

Gwendoline Christie is set to play Commander Lyme in “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part 2,” Access Hollywood has confirmed.

The actress will replace “American Horror Story” alum Lily Rabe, who is unable to play the role of a former Hunger Games winner, due to another commitment, per Deadline.

Currently, Gwendoline’s “GoT” co-star Natalie Dormer is filming “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part 1,” playing Cressida. Both women will appear in “Part 2.”

A photo from the new season of “Game of Thrones” showed interaction between the Gwendoline and Natalie’s characters – the mighty Brienne of Tarth, and Margaery Tyrell.

Season 3 ended with Jamie Lannister (Nikolai Coster-Waldau) finally reaching King’s Landing with his unlikely travelling companion Brienne. And at the show’s New York City premiere, Gwendoline hinted that her character will be tested in the highly political, and sometimes treacherous city.

“I think what we’re going to see is the continuation of a story of a woman that is placed in situations that she doesn’t know, naturally, how to navigate,” Gwendoline told Access Hollywood.

“And there are occasions where we can truly enjoy watching how she’s tested,” Gwendoline added. “And she also undergoes the greatest hardship yet.”

“Game of Thrones” premieres Sunday, April 6 at 9 PM ET/PT on HBO.
