‘Grace Of Monaco’ To Open Cannes Film Festival

The big-budget biopic “Grace of Monaco” will hold its world premiere at the opening of the Cannes Film Festival in May, after its original March release date was delayed without explanation.

Festival organizers said Friday that the film about Grace Kelly, directed by Olivier Dahan, will open the May 14-25 event this year. The film stars Nicole Kidman as Grace, who went from Oscar-winning actress to princess of the Mediterranean principality not far from Cannes.

The Weinstein Co. said Thursday that the movie won’t open March 14 as planned and is off the release calendar. The trade paper The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Dahan has been at odds with Weinstein over the film.

The late Princess Grace’s family earlier criticized the script as overly glamorized and inaccurate.
