‘Grown Ups’ Stars On Their Worst Experiences

“Grown Ups” stars a number of Hollywood’s most famous funnymen, including Adam Sandler, Kevin James, David Spade and Chris Rock. But life before stardom wasn’t always easy.

In an interview with Access Hollywood’s Maria Menounos for Sunday night’s “Dateline NBC,” the comedians recalled some of their worst moments.

“Let me tell you the one that hurts the most,” Adam told Maria. “‘Caddyshack II.’ I auditioned for that one. I was like, “I can’t — this is the most painful experience of my life.”

Meanwhile, David Spade recalled a family moment.

“My dad, he left when we were 4,” David said. “He picked me up a year later, when I was like 10, and we’d go and get ice cream…“

“That was a year later,” Chris joked, referring to the difference between age 4 and age 10.

“Whatever. I can’t know the numbers. [But] he’d get mad at me about something. He’d pull over and spank me. And I’m like, ‘Who are you again? You still get to spank me? I haven’t see you in a year,’” David added.

Still, the comedians turned their pain into laughs for “Grown Ups,” a film about high school pals reunited for a 4th of July weekend. The film hits theaters on June 25, 2010.
