Guy Candy: Clive Owen

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (October 8, 2007) – This weekend, Clive Owen swings his way on to screens as sexy Sir Walter Raleigh in “Elizabeth: The Golden Age.”

For Owen’s latest dalliance in period pieces, the blue-eyed Brit plays the slightly brutish and completely swashbuckling Raleigh, who steals Queen Elizabeth’s (Cate Blanchett) heart.

The movie follows the strange relationship between the bold adventurer and the virgin Queen.

Though he wins Elizabeth’s favor through his manly deeds, Raleigh’s testosterone gets the better of him and rather than continue his attempts to win Elizabeth over, he impregnates one of her ladies in waiting — Elizabeth Throckmorton (Abbie Cornish) in a heat-inducing scene.

Off screen Clive is much more admirable but still just as sexy as husband to actress Sarah-Jane Fenton. The couple wed in 1995 after Owen played Romeo to her Juliet at the Young Vic Theatre. Their union has produced two daughters.
