Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson & Jodie Foster Talk Hollywood’s Casting Couch

Following Gwyneth Paltrow’s recent admission about her past dealings with Hollywood’s casting couch problem, the actress explained to Access Hollywood that she doesn’t see the issue going away.

“I think it’s always happened and it think probably always will happen unfortunately,” Gwyneth told Access’ Tony Potts at ELLE’s 17th Annual Women in Hollywood Tribute in Beverly Hills on Monday night.

“It’s just important to know who you are and how to tell some to f*** off,” Gwyneth added.

Earlier this month, the 38-year-old star revealed her past problems with Hollywood’s dark side in an interview in ELLE’s Women in Hollywood issue.

“When I was just starting out, someone suggested that we finish a meeting in the bedroom. I left. I was pretty shocked,” she previously told the mag.

Jodie Foster, who was also on hand at Monday’s event, painted a different picture when she spoke to Tony.

“Gwyneth Paltrow got that casting couch, I never even saw it. I’m not sure how that happened, but [I] never saw that couch. I didn’t even get the chair, got none of it!” Jodie said. “[Hollywood] has come a long way, especially for women directors.”

Kate Hudson, who was honored on Monday by mom Goldie Hawn, was also able to avoid the couch.

“I remember especially when I saw first starting out, you walk into an audition and you leave and you’re like, ‘You know, all I really need to do is stand up, turn around and show them my assets and walk out,’” Kate recalled. “And, if that’s the case I definitely didn’t get the job!”

Despite the problem, Kate believes the tide is turning for her fellow Hollywood sisters.

“There’s interesting things being female in this industry, but I think there have been a lot of incredible women that have paved the way for us and have raised the ceiling an extra two feet,” she added.
