Gwyneth Paltrow Reveals Past Casting-Couch Experience

Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed that when she began her career in Hollywood, someone suggested a trip to the casting-couch to help her land her a role.

“When I was just starting out, someone suggested that we finish a meeting in the bedroom. I left. I was pretty shocked,” the 38-year-old star said in an interview in ELLE’s upcoming Women in Hollywood issue. “I could see how someone who didn’t know better might worry, ‘My career will be ruined if I don’t [perform this sexual act with] this guy!’”

As for the state of roles available to women in Hollywood, the Oscar winner feels “dejected.”

“There’s a lot that’s okay, but there’s little that’s really good, especially for someone my age. Sometimes you find out that something you really liked is going to someone 10 years younger,” she told the mag. “I find it heartening that Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock have been able to find and create amazing projects.”

The “Iron Man” star even admitted that some of her past projects have been less than stellar.

“I must have done 25 movies in my twenties,” she said. “I didn’t realize that you could be choosy – I just did what was put in front of me. Luckily, some of the films were really good.”

Next up, Gwyneth will play a country singer in “Country Strong,” with Tim McGraw and Leighton Meester, slated to hit theaters on December 22.
