Halle Berry Honored At Palm Springs Film Fest; ‘Hairspray’ Stars Speak Out Over Globes

This past weekend, the stars made an appearance in California’s desert for the 19th annual Palm Springs Film Festival, including a pregnant Halle Berry who turned up in full baby bloom.

“I feel so fantastic,” Halle, who has just two months until her baby’s arrival, told Access Hollywood. “It would be great to be pregnant for the rest of my life.”

The beaming star was honored with the Desert Palm Achievement Award at the festival.

She accepted her award in a flowing Temperly mini, which flattered her growing belly.

“It’s true, I’m about three times the girl I usually am,” Halle laughed. “This is the first red carpet I’ve walked down where I didn’t have to worry about holding in my stomach.”

And as for her upcoming amazing personal achievement, there’s no name for the baby yet.

“I’m one of these people that thinks you have to meet the baby before you can name the baby,” she said. “I’m really excited [and] a little worried. The baby has got to come out somehow and I’ve got to be the one to push it out so there’s a little fear there, but many women have done it before me so I’m sure I’ll be fine.”

Also feeling fine at the festival was the spirited cast of “Hairspray,” who came out in force to received the ensemble performance award.

Zac Efron and girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens reigned as Hollywood’s teen king and queen, posing arm-in-arm in matching black, but the cast had their minds on another awards show.

On Friday, the Screen Actors Guild released a statement saying its members would not cross the WGA’s picket lines to attend the Golden Globes

“We’ll respect that wish and hope that something gets resolved before the event. If not, I guess it will be postponed maybe,” John Travolta told Access.

Travolta is nominated for Best Supporting Actor, Musical or Comedy, while “Hairspray” is up for best film, musical or comedy.

Co-star Amanda Bynes, will also stand behind their union.

“I’ve never been invited before so I was very excited to go, so it’s disappointing,” Bynes said. “Maybe next year or the year after.”

And Bynes isn’t the only disappointed star.

“I got a dress and it was amazing and I was really bummed out about that because it was like, my Golden Globe dress,” Bynes’ “Hairspray” co-star Brittany Snow said.

First time Globe nominee Nikki Blonsky, who was presented with the Rising Star award by the original Tracy Turnblad, Ricki Lake, shied away from a definite no.

The nominee for Best Actress, Musical or Comedy said she is undecided about whether she’ll attend.

“I’m going to do whatever feels right for me,” Blonksy said. “There’s a dress being made and you know you always gotta back yourself up because a girl without a dress is not a happy girl.”
